AlphaTheta Corporation has unveiled an exciting update to its widely-used DJ software, Rekordbox, by integrating Apple Music’s extensive catalog of over 100 million songs. This groundbreaking feature allows DJs to stream tracks directly within Rekordbox, eliminating the need to download or manage large music libraries. Announced as part of AlphaTheta’s mission to enhance creative flexibility, this integration is set to transform how DJs discover and perform music.

With updates to Rekordbox for Mac/Windows (version 7.1.0), Rekordbox for iOS (version 4.4.0), and firmware for compatible hardware like the OMNIS-DUO and XDJ-AZ, DJs can now search, browse, and import Apple Music tracks directly into their sets. This integration also includes access to Apple Music’s curated playlists and editorial content, offering a rich resource for inspiration and spontaneity during performances.
This move signals a shift in the DJ world toward streaming-based workflows, a trend already embraced by platforms like Serato and Engine DJ. For the music industry, it could mean greater exposure for artists as DJs weave Apple Music tracks into their sets, amplifying reach through live and recorded performances.
AlphaTheta’s President and CEO, Yoshinori Kataoka, emphasized the update’s significance: “We are thrilled to bring this integration with Apple Music to DJs around the world and in their creative process.” Meanwhile, Apple Music has launched a dedicated “DJ with Apple Music” landing page, featuring resources and playlists tailored for DJs using partner software.
The updates are available now, and DJs can dive into this feature via AlphaTheta’s official website or Apple Music’s DJ hub. Whether you’re a bedroom DJ or a club veteran, this integration blends the convenience of streaming with the precision of professional tools, marking a pivotal moment in DJ technology.
