Defected Records, one of the world’s leading House music record labels is hosting its very first Defected Malta Festival in 2022! This is definitely something you don’t want to miss. The festival will take place at the luxurious and stunning location of St Paul’s Bay, in the northern part of Malta and just 15 minutes away from the capital Valletta. The event will run from Thursday 7th April until Monday 11th April and there will be 5 clubs, boat parties and off-grid locations with some of the biggest DJs and artists in the world performing!
If you’re thinking of attending the Defected Malta Festival, then you’ll need to start planning your travel and accommodation as soon as possible! The closest airport to St Paul’s Bay is Malta International Airport, which is located just a short drive away. There are plenty of hotels and Airbnbs nearby and Defected offers accommodations and packages and all other travel info through their website.
The event will run from Thursday to Monday and there will be a total of three days of house music and partying, five clubs hosting parties, boat parties and off-grid locations with some of the biggest DJs and artists in the world performing! The full line-up has recently been announced and this is what you can expect.
Just like on any other Defected event the line-up is amazing. Representing many of the world’s most renowned artists in House and electronic music. If you are a frequent reader of my blog and podcast listener you definitely recognize names like: Kerri Chandler, Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada with a DJ set. But also many of the lesser known DJ names like: Dan Shake, Girls Of The Internet doing a live set, Jimpster (from Freerange) and many more. See the flyer with the full DJ line up below.
These artists you’ll spot on the flyer are programmed widely over various locations during the 3 days of Defected Malta 2022.
Cafe Del Mar is located in the center of St Paul’s Bay and will host DJ sets on all three days.
The open-air and largest multi-room venue “UNO” , also located in St Paul’s Bay with a stunning view over the Mediterranean Sea, is one of the main stages where you can see live performances and DJ sets.
Since the start of the first Defected in Croatia “boat parties” are no exception and also included in Defected Malta.
An after-hours stage is located in an off-grid location and the DJ’s playing here are yet to be announced.

While for me and many other Defected is a household name in the electronic music scene, you might read about it for the first time. So here’s a little bit of background on one of the worlds most renowned house music labels.
Founded in the late 1990s by Simon Dunmore, Defected started out as a DJ booking agency and record store in London. In 2001, they released their first compilation album, “Defected Presents House Masters”, which was followed by the launch of their record label in 2002. The label has since gone on to release music from some of the biggest names in the scene. Next to music releases, compilations, mixes they also have the weekly Defected Radio show and podcast always including the latest music from the scene which is very similar to our weekly podcasts.
After running a successful record label for many years Defected started with hosting parties around the world at various venues and festivals. The first ever “Defected in the House” event was held in Ibiza in 2005 and they have been returning to the island every summer since. In 2012, they launched their first festival, “Defected Croatia”, which has become one of the most popular electronic music festivals in Europe.
