Dirty Disco 649 is one of those episodes that reminds me exactly why I still love making this weekly electronic music podcast and radio show. It does not follow one straight genre line. It moves like a real DJ set should move. Warm at the start, deeper as it grows, more rhythmic in the second hour, and finally closing with a soulful global groove that feels like a proper goodbye.

This week’s journey opens with Pete Herbert and “Legzira Sunrise”, taken from his Far Flung LP. That album is built around tracks inspired by travels, people and places from the last two decades, which makes it a perfect starting point for this episode’s Balearic and worldly mood.

From there, I move through deep house, dubby disco, Brazilian rhythm, percussive club music, nu disco, Latin soul and crate digging gems. You will hear music from Pete Herbert, Auf Togo, Calabra, Peter Visti, Eduard0, Tapper Zukie, Natasha Diggs and Megatronic, L.D.F., Ubunto, Jean Jacques Smoothie, DJ Dove, Saint Paul, Niconé and David Hasert, Fugaz, Mari., DFRA, Nickodemus and Gabriele Poso, and more.

This is not just a new deep house mix. It is a carefully curated musical route through scenes, labels, records and moods that connect with the wider Dirty Disco electronic music podcast sound.

TLDR

Dirty Disco 649 is a two hour hosted electronic music podcast and radio show by me, Kono Vidovic, built around warm Balearic deep house, nu disco, dubby disco, Brazilian rhythms, percussive club grooves and Latin soul. The episode starts with the sunlit Balearic sound of Pete Herbert’s Far Flung LP and slowly moves through fresh releases, crate digging selections, soulful house pressure and global grooves from artists like Auf Togo, Calabra, Peter Visti, Eduard0, Tapper Zukie, Natasha Diggs and Megatronic, L.D.F., Ubunto, DJ Dove, Fugaz, Mari., DFRA, Nickodemus and Gabriele Poso.

What makes this episode stand out is the flow. It is not a random playlist, but a carefully mixed journey through records, labels and moods that naturally connect. If you are into deep house podcasts, Balearic DJ mixes, soulful electronic music, nu disco, underground house, global club music or long form DJ storytelling, Dirty Disco 649 gives you the full experience: music, context, track selections, release notes and a warm human guide through the sound.

Why Dirty Disco 649 Feels Like A Real Selector Journey

A lot of electronic music content today is built around speed. Fast discovery, fast playlists, fast trends, fast scrolling. I understand that. We all use platforms, algorithms and quick recommendations. But Dirty Disco has always been about something deeper than just playing what is new.

For me, a good DJ mix is about placement. A track does not only matter because of what it is. It matters because of where it lands, what came before it, and what it opens up next.

That is exactly how Dirty Disco 649 works. The mix starts in a sunny Balearic zone with Pete Herbert, then moves into more leftfield electronic material from Auf Togo and Calabra. From there it slowly opens up into soulful house, dubby disco, Brazilian rhythm, percussive deep house and finally a warmer Latin inspired closing.

It is a global electronic music podcast, but not in a forced way. It is global because the records naturally travel.

The Balearic Opening With Pete Herbert, Auf Togo, Calabra and Peter Visti

The first part of the show is built around warmth, space and movement. Pete Herbert’s “Legzira Sunrise” opens the episode beautifully. Later in the episode, he returns with “Early One Evening” and “At Zuka”, both also from Far Flung. That gives the first section a clear identity: sunlit, open, relaxed, but still with enough groove underneath to keep everything moving.

Auf Togo’s “Less Is More” keeps that mood alive while adding a slightly more electronic edge. Calabra’s “Plastic”, taken from No FM, brings in a more leftfield album feeling. It is not just a DJ tool dropped into the mix. It feels like part of a wider artistic world.

Peter Visti’s “Closer” then adds another warm layer. It has that slow burning Balearic quality I always love in a mix. It does not shout. It pulls you in gradually.

Soulful House, Crate Digging and Dubby Disco

Around the first half hour, the episode starts to open up beyond the Balearic zone.

Eduard0’s “Even If I Fail”, from the Roll Wit It EP on Apparel Music Extra, brings in subtle movement and warm house energy. Apparel Music describes the track as carrying a subtle Argentinian atmosphere, not in an obvious way, but through the rhythmic feeling underneath the groove. The EP was released on May 22, 2026.

Then we move into the digging side of Dirty Disco with Tapper Zukie’s “Visions Of Love”, featured on Mr Bongo Record Club Vol. 8. That same compilation also gives us Ubunto’s “O Vento Part. As Ganhadeiras de Itapuã”, which appears later in the mix. The Mr Bongo Record Club series is exactly the kind of selection culture I love: records that feel discovered, rescued, reconnected and placed into a new context.

Natasha Diggs and Megatronic’s “Leen” in the dub version comes from the PEOPLE EP on The Jazz Diaries. This is one of the most human moments in the show. It has dub pressure, soul, space and that feeling of music made for actual rooms and actual communities.

That is also where Dirty Disco lives for me. Not just as a mix, but as a community around taste, curiosity and real musical connection. For more stories like that, you can explore the wider Dirty Disco interview section, where I go deeper into releases, artists, interviews and music culture.

Brazilian Warmth, Percussion and Deep House Movement

One of the strongest parts of Dirty Disco 649 is how naturally it moves into Brazilian and percussive territory.

Ubunto’s “O Vento Part. As Ganhadeiras de Itapuã” brings a completely different kind of warmth. More organic, more vocal, more rooted in Brazilian musical tradition, but still fitting beautifully inside this electronic flow.

L.D.F. and Tilman then bring things into a deeper and more club focused space with “Do What You Like” from World Beats Vol. 2. The release also features Byron The Aquarius and Trinidadian Deep, with “Fire Drums II” included on the same project. The vinyl release is listed for July 9, 2026 through World Beats.

That section is a good example of what I like about modern deep house when it is done properly. It does not need to be overly polished or predictable. It can be hypnotic, percussive, warm and functional at the same time.

House Music With Body: DJ Dove, Saint Paul, Fugaz and Mari.

In the second half of the episode, the mix gets more body and more dancefloor attitude.

DJ Dove appears with “Paises” alongside CLAVÉ and later with Todd G. and DJ Disciple on “Get Up”. Both connect to The Underdog on Grind City Recordings. The album is a 2026 release and includes “Get Up” as a collaboration between DJ Dove, Todd G. and DJ Disciple.

That matters because you can hear the difference between trend chasing and craft. “Get Up” is direct, house rooted and built for movement.

Fugaz bring a different edge with “It’s All Around”. The Brazilian duo from São Paulo released the It’s All Around EP through theBasement Discos, with the project moving between house, acid lines, hypnotic drums and contemporary Latin textures.

Then Mari. asks the perfect question with “Is It House?” from the On To Something EP. And honestly, that question is bigger than one track. Is it house? Is it disco? Is it Balearic? Is it deep? Sometimes the better question is simpler: does it move you?

Deep House, Jazz Energy and Latin Soul To Close

As we move toward the end, DFRA’s “Charlene” from A Quiet Storm EP on Ascension on Wax brings the energy deeper and smoother. The release also includes a Jon Dixon remix, which gives the track an extra Detroit flavoured connection between jazz, machine rhythm and deeper house textures.

The final track is Nickodemus and Gabriele Poso featuring Flaco Navaja and Carlos Sarduy with “La Conga Vieja” on Wonderwheel Recordings. It is a perfect closing record for this episode. Percussion, movement, soul, Latin warmth and live energy. A reminder that dance music does not belong to one genre or one city. It travels, absorbs stories and connects people across scenes.

Club Culture, Human Curation and Why Dirty Disco Still Matters

One cultural thread running through this episode is the value of human curation.

In Germany, the conversation around nightlife and culture has become very concrete. The Guardian reported on Germany’s plan to reclassify nightclubs as cultural and artistic venues, a move that could give clubs stronger protection against redevelopment pressure and recognise them as more than late night businesses.

That conversation matters beyond Germany. It shows that club culture is not just nightlife. It is part of how music scenes survive, how artists grow and how communities form around sound.

At the same time, music discovery is increasingly shaped by algorithms, short form content and streaming recommendations. That is not automatically bad, but it can make music feel endless and disposable. A curated radio show or DJ mix gives music context again. It says: this track belongs here, after this record, before that next mood.

That is the role I want Dirty Disco to keep playing. A weekly place for deep house, nu disco, Balearic grooves, soulful electronic music and underground selections that deserve more than a quick scroll.

Final Thoughts

Dirty Disco 649 starts with sunrise energy and ends with Latin soul. In between, it moves through Balearic house, deep grooves, dubby disco, Brazilian rhythm, crate digging gems and proper house pressure.

For me, that is the power of a good DJ set. It does not need to stay in one lane. It needs to make sense emotionally. It needs to breathe, move and connect.

So stay curious. Keep digging. Let algorithms help you, but do not let them decide everything for you. Trust your ears, follow your taste and leave room for music that surprises you.

This is Dirty Disco 649. I hope you enjoy the ride.
