As a selector, I’m always fascinated by the tracks that shape an artist’s journey, those defining records that quietly (or loudly) leave their mark. And when I first dropped the Daniel Monaco Remix of Bruno Boogie in Dirty Disco episode 600, I knew there was something special about Euro Nettuno. Their sound is playful but precise, eclectic yet coherent, a rare combo that feels both familiar and refreshingly new.
So when the chance came to go deeper with them, I had to ask: what are the tracks that made you? What grooves lit the first spark?
In this exclusive Track Talk, Euro Nettuno opens up about 10 records that helped shape their identity, from tropical funk and Indian disco to cosmic ballads and South African soul. It’s not just a playlist, it’s a story of influences, intuition, and sonic evolution. These are the tracks behind the tracks.
1 COEO – Cabrio Mango
Modern disco with a Latin soul. One of the very first tracks that brought us together on a shared musical wavelength. It felt like a signal—something that lit the spark for what would become the Euro Nettuno sound and vibe. Warm, vibrant, and full of groove: it helped shape our whole direction from the start. Bright, playful, and hard to resist.
A meeting of two worlds we love: Khruangbin’s psychedelic funk and Quantic’s tropical touch. This “Cut a Rug” version keeps the energy high but adds a layer of finesse.
3 Gilberto Gil – Maracatu Atômico
An anthem. The power of Brazilian tropicalism fused with electric funk. This song gets your blood moving—whether you’re alone on headphones or in a crowd dancing under the sun.
4 Elkin & Nelson – Jibaro
This track has it all: groove, mysticism, and a beat that pulls you to the floor. One of the first records that really made us say, “Okay, we need to play this everywhere.” Pure disco magic.
5 Parvati Khan, Bappi Lahiri – Jimmy Jimmy Aaja Aaja
An all-time cult classic. It opened the door for us to the world of Indian disco and Bollywood funk—which quickly became a regular feature in our sets. The crowd goes wild every single time.
6 Kamazu, Indaba Kabani
Our discovery of South African bubblegum soul was a revelation. We found this track by chance and never let it go. It’s perfect for switching gears while keeping the energy warm and fun.
7 Lucio Battisti – Due mondi
Battisti has always been a quiet yet constant presence. This song is hypnotic, suspended, almost cosmic. It’s like a Balearic version of Battisti—perfect even in an Afro or house set.
8 Black Box – Strike It Up (Official Video)
A timeless Italian dancefloor classic that we’ve carried with us forever. It’s flashy in the best way—and every time it plays, something happens. Pure 90s euphoria, sweat, and hands in the air.
9 Peter Humphrey – Soca Fire
This one’s pure fire. Caribbean rhythms, a round, rolling bassline, and vocals that lift you up. A track that shows how powerful a simple but well-crafted groove can be. Very cool find from our friend Mario Marini’s shop.
10 Isabel Roberts – Rhythm of Your Love
A slow, sensual gem—perfect for winding things down gently. Isabel’s voice just wraps around you. It’s the kind of record that makes you want to stay in the moment a little longer.
(BONUS) Skip Mahoney – Janice (Don’t Be So Blind To Love) (Bobby DJ Guttadaro Remix)
A soulful ballad that hit us right in the heart the first time we heard it. Lately, it’s become the track we often use to close our DJ sets, a warm, emotional ending that captures the spirit of what we’re trying to share with this project.
Thank you!
Big love to Euro Nettuno for opening up their crates and hearts in this Track Talk. It’s rare to find artists so tuned into their roots and so forward-thinking in their production. And if you felt those influences weaving through their picks, just wait ‘til you hear what they’ve done with them.
