Gamblers team up with Mick Jenkins to release a second song for their forthcoming EP ‘When We Exit’. “Another Dose” is in line with “Preach Your Love,” the first single from that same EP, giving Gamblers a jump into the unknown. The indie rock sound that the Long Island-based band was so familiar with is now traded in for electronic beats

Gamblers - Another Dose Ft Mick Jenkins

Collaboration with Mick Jenkins.

Where with “Preach Your Love” it was still a bit of groping in the dark with slower beats, Gamblers has found the light with their latest release. The dark space turned out to be a pleasant dance floor. The collaboration with Mick Jenkins is also an ideal choice for Gamblers. In terms of rhythm and sound, they are on the same wavelength, but a collaboration with an artist like Mick Jenkins who worked with Kaytranada among others, whose songs are listened to millions of times, is the perfect way for Gamblers to get into the spotlight of many genre lovers.

Gamblers put on his best dancing shoes and created a fun summer record together with Mick Jenkins. Jenkins’ influence is clearly audible, then: the familiar guitar and drums, so prominent on his debut album Small World, are traded in for a tropical beat that swiftly supports the alternation between vocals and rap.

Gamblers – Another Dose (Ft Mick Jenkins)

“Another Dose” starts with soaring, sometimes somewhat unintelligible vocals that are soon interspersed with Jenkins’ upbeat rap. “I just need all of you” and “Love as hard as I can” are the catchphrases of this song and immediately reflect what this song is all about: a sweet declaration of love.

The song bounces smoothly through the speakers, but after a minute and a half you do notice that they often repeat themselves, which makes the song feel repetitive very quickly. Michael McManus must have noticed that too, because with “Another Dose” Gamblers makes their shortest track so far. On the other hand, it’s nice that after a few listens you catch yourself silently humming the chorus. Earworm assured!

Breakthrough and heading for bigger venues.

It looks like “Another Dose” is going to be Gamblers’ breakthrough song and no one will be sad about that. In just a few days, their number of monthly listeners on Spotify rose from barely 2,000 to 21,000. No doubt the many fans of Mick Jenkins will be among them for something. With “Another Dose,” Gamblers puts positive wind in their sails and head for bigger festivals and venues.
