London duo Jive Talk are soon to appear at The Wild Wood Disco Festival later this month. These two funsters push a party focussed sound spanning house, breaks, garage, and anything else that meets the ‘big beat manifesto’. When they aren’t attempting to blow the roof off venues with their record collection, you can find Jonny & Sam down the local boozer winning arm wrestling contests or ironing their various martial art black belts at home.
Who are the members of Jive Talk?
Jonny & Sam
Are you named after a Bee Gees song?
No, we used to talk shit to each other to try and put each other off while mixing and jive talk came up when we were trying to figure out what to call ourselves.
If you had to put Jive Talk into 3 words, what words would you choose?
A cosmic attitude …
When did Jive Talk get together? What were the first gigs you played?
2016 was the year Jive Talk officially started but we go way back as fellow DJs. Technically our first gig together would have been back in Bristol for a night called Blow Pop where we were both residents.
What kind of vibe can we hope to hear in a Jive Talk set?
Cosmic grooves with attitude!
Who are the artists that inspire you most from the past?
Too many to mention
Who do you think is making great music at the moment?
Baby Rollén, Make a Dance, Demi Riquisimo, T Jaques, and Jay Carder to name a few.
What do you think is the greatest record of all time?
Not telling..
If you had a Jive Talk party and there was a dress code, what would the dress code be?
Cowboys and cowgirls
Who do you think is your greatest fan?
Too many to choose from.
How did you get involved with The Wild Wood Disco Festival?
Vicky saw us play at another festival on the same sight and then very kindly booked us, this will be the 3rd time we’ve played at Wildwood.
What can you tell us about the event and what makes it so special?
The organisers, the line up, and the crowd. Everyone is lovely and there’s quality music for everyone.
What will you play when the moment is just right?
You never know until it happens.
Who else do you hope to catch on the line up?
Dr Banana, Crazy P, Neil Diablo, Itchy rich and loads more.
How do you feel about sleeping in tents?
Sleeping in tents is a great idea!
What will you take (in your packing) to get you through the weekend?
Thanks for clarifying you meant packing, we would have answered ‘loads of drugs’ otherwise.
My final words.
In the end, Jive Talk, the duo with an insatiable passion for cosmic grooves and an infectious party-focused sound, perfectly embody what it means to live and breathe music. Their unique blend of house, breaks, garage, and their ‘big beat manifesto’ makes their presence at the upcoming Wild Wood Disco Festival an event to be eagerly awaited by all music lovers.
With a love for vinyl, a knack for creating a wild atmosphere, and a dress code that echoes their lively personality, Jonny and Sam’s set at Wild Wood is set to take us on a journey through musical dimensions, with a healthy dose of fun and humor.
As we anticipate their performance at the Wild Wood Disco Festival, it’s clear that their talent and dedication will continue to inspire music enthusiasts and partygoers alike, and keep us all on our feet.
Thank you, Jonny and Sam, for sharing a glimpse into your creative world and your infectious zest for life and music. It’s not just about the sounds, it’s about the experience, the connection, the cosmic attitude – that’s the Jive Talk way.
