Get ready to groove because we have new music from Chilean producer Massiande, back with a vengeance on Freerange Records with his sophomore EP, Dancing Is Life. Drawing on inspiration from classic US house sounds and infusing them with his own unique minimal approach. Massiande has crafted another 4-track masterpiece that is sure to get your feet moving on the dancefloor. In this exclusive interview, Massiande talks us through each of the tracks on the EP and shares some insights into his creative process.
I’ve always wanted to tell stories with my songs. And the idea of writing something about the experience of dance, as a way to create a feeling of communion, or therapeutic, etc. is one that I wanted to do for a long time. Diamondancer was the first person who came to mind to translate it into words and narrate these feelings, and she did a beautiful job.
I’m mostly a Deep House producer, but I like to explore producing different kinds of House music to learn more about different ways to approach production. Hopefully improve my production skills and also because in my DJ sets I vary a lot through House and Disco. So I want that to be consistent with my production. So this track came just from experimenting with a different sound palette. It’s probably the wildest track I’ve made 🙂 It reminds me a lot of Kink (great guy!).
I could describe this as an “accessible Deep House track”, meaning that people who aren’t necessarily into Deep House could like it.
I think it’s important to try to bring people closer to the Deep House genre, when we love this kind of music so much. I live every day with the difficulty that, in Chile, the local electronic music events are mostly all about Tech-House and Techno. So I see this kind of work as a means to try to push those boundaries. It’s simple, with a big synth, jumping bassline, but it has those deep pads as well. It might open your ears to deeper dance vibes 🙂
This is the track of the EP that is for the Deep, classic House heads. And the title “Focus” suggests that, even if I can explore different sounds, I will always focus on Deep House as my main priority.
Massiande has created an incredible EP with Dancing Is Life. And we are honored to have been able to interview him about it. This EP is a testament to Massiande’s talent as a producer and his deep understanding of the dance music genre. We can’t wait to see what he comes up with next! Thank you, Massiande, for giving us such an amazing release!
