Some bands make funk sound polished. Jéroboam make it sound alive.
For this new Dirty Disco Track Talk, we dive into the musical world behind Jéroboam, the 11 piece Parisian funk band now stepping forward with their self titled debut album on Favorite Recordings. Released on June 12, 2026 as Tip On Vinyl LP, CD and digital, the album marks a defining moment for a group that has been shaping its identity through live shows, deep funk knowledge and years of collective musicianship.
Before Jéroboam became Jéroboam, the core musicians were already building their sound through Echoes Of, a live project inspired by the great American cities of funk. That background is important, because it explains why this band does not simply reference soul, boogie and disco. They understand the movement, the timing, the weight of a groove and the energy of musicians playing together in real time.
In this Track Talk, Jéroboam take us through the records, memories and collaborations that helped form their sound. From Dexter Wansel and Earth, Wind & Fire to Go Go funk, Junior Giscombe, Kyoto Jazz Massive and their own new singles Sweet Addiction and Feeling Something, this is a musical map of how a Paris based live band turned its influences into something fully its own.
We all met throught a band named Echoes of we created more than 10 years ago. The idea was to grow our sound learning from the great U.S funk bands and explore the major cities musical scene. This track from the late Dexter Wansel is part of a tribute show Echoes of Philadelphia this also how we started the adventure with the incredible Agyei Osei.
This one has a peculiar relation with us, It’s the song our sound engineer Sylvain Pierre-Justin ( New Morning ) starts every soundcheck with. It create a Pavlovian reaction for all the band members … Time to get ready,
Echoes of Washington is one of the first cities we payed respect to as Echoes of, the Go-Go Funk influenced a lot our personal music and still do. Wolfgang Valbrun embodies perfectly this style and brings this powerful energy into Jéroboam.
Echoes of Atlanta is the latest city we did as Echoes of. This is how we met the great Indy Eka. The energy of this song is unmatched.
Working with Junior is one favorite moments as Echoes of. All the tips and good advices he gave us still are engraved in our core memories. It was also the first time this song had a live arrangement.
This one is kind of our band anthem, it was first original music we released as Jéroboam . This first 12′ was on the label Space Grapes
This song will always have a special place in Jéroboam history. It has a bittersweet taste

We started as a backing band ( Echoes Of A New Dawn Orchestra ) but with time our relation grows thicker, we arrranged some of the KJM songs. We composed this song as a gift to Shuya Okino and he was kind enough to put it in the KJM EOANDO released in 2025
Sweet Addiction is the first single of our first album, so it’s really important for us. We left the composition residency singing the hook over and over again, it was stuck in our heads !
It was also an instant earworm for our label Favorite Recordings, making this song an obvious choice.
Feeling something shows an another aspect of Jéroboam, with more personal lyrics and a chill yet powerful vibe. This soulful side is a crucial element of our music.
What I love about this Track Talk is how clearly you can hear the journey behind Jéroboam. This is not just a band naming influences to sound cool. These tracks connect directly to their own history, their live shows, their friendships, their collaborations and the moments that helped shape their identity.
From Philadelphia soul to Washington Go Go, from Atlanta energy to London memories and Kyoto Jazz Massive connections, Jéroboam show how wide their musical foundation really is. But the most important part is what they do with it. Their new album does not feel like a museum piece. It feels like a living, breathing funk record made by musicians who understand the past but are fully focused on the dancefloor now.
With Sweet Addiction and Feeling Something, Jéroboam open the door to two sides of their sound: one instantly catchy and full of boogie funk energy, the other more soulful, personal and emotionally direct. Together, they make a strong case for why their debut album deserves attention from funk lovers, disco heads, soul collectors and anyone who still believes in the power of a real live band.
