With ‘Local Valley’ José González released his celebrated fourth studio album last year. It also included the single “Swing”, which has now been remixed by Diynamic label boss Solomun.
Solomon’s Creative Interpretation.
José González was visibly delighted with the grandmaster’s new interpretation: “I was thrilled with the creative remix José González – Swing (Solomun Remix). The unexpected vocals create a melancholic feeling and the subtle flamenco percussions combined with the house beat make the song feel completely different,” said González, who was recently awarded the Swedish music prize Grammis for ‘Local Valley’.
Not an easy task.
Remix artist Solomun was not stingy with joy about the reworked work: “I was very happy that José asked me to remix his song. At first, however, it was not an easy task to find an approach to remix “Swing”. I was about to ask for an alternative track, but then I happened to hear Matt Bianco’s ‘Half a Minute’ from 1984 on the radio, and that gave me the inspiration I needed to start all over again. In the end, I’m very happy, I didn’t give up.”
