Hey everyone, I’ve got a confession, I’m a total sucker for house music that hits the soul just right. Growing up, I’d lose myself in the thump of a kick drum or the shimmer of a synth, dreaming of nights where the dancefloor felt like home. So sitting down with Joseph Salvador of Universo Positivo feels like a full circle moment. His label, barely a year old, is already lighting up the house scene, and their latest release, Ordinary Things by South Bay Jams, drops this week. Joseph’s sharing the ten tracks that made him fall head over heels for house, and trust me, these picks are pure joy, let’s dive in!
The label is rooted in the timeless sounds of house, funk, disco, and soulful electronica, we are a home for artists who channel soul, groove, and positivity into their music.
“We are driven by the belief that music should inspire and connect people across cultures and social breed. In each release we strive to commit to high-quality production, free creative expression, and an organic fusion of vintage and modern sounds. We want the dance floor to become a space for joy, unity, and positive vibrations. The world needs it now more than ever.”
This week the label releases its twelfth edition with South Bay Jams and ‘Ordinary Things’. Label owner, Salvador, takes a moment to talk us through ten tracks that have made him fall in love with House music.
One of the first records that made me sell my heart to House music.
From a period of which I have some of the sweetest memories in dancing to House
I loved that early Jersey sound and this one did it for me.
The Charvoni version of the song always touched me.
This whole album had me dancing for years.
When I want to feel hope, love and joy.. I play this song.
Songs that make you happy, that’s all .
This song at the time to me embodied the right spirit and mood of the House nation.
What is more beautiful than to be in love?
A song I wrote in the time the gulf war broke out and my message from the heart.
And that’s the beat, ten tracks that fueled Joseph Salvador’s passion for house and brought Universo Positivo to life. Huge thanks to Joseph for letting us into his musical heart, these tunes took me right back to my own dancefloor days, and I hope they moved you too. The label’s twelfth release, Ordinary Things by South Bay Jams, is out now, a soulful deep house gem you won’t want to miss. Stream it, feel it, share it, all the links are here! Drop your favorite from Joseph’s list in the comments, and let’s keep spreading those positive vibes, see you soon!
