If you’re a fan of electronic hip-hop, then you’ll love Letherette’s new album, BL6 (Brown Lounge Volume 6). This masterpiece is filled with downtempo beats and MPC sampling that will take you back in time to the golden era of hip hop. The album was released on Wulf Records on July 22 and is available digitally and on limited edition cassettes. So far, the reviews for this album have been amazing!
We know UK based producers duo Letherette (Richard Roberts and Andrew Harber) as very versatile artists producing multiple genres and sub-genres. From fine disco house sampling on their Mander House album to hard beat hitting tunes and these smooth MPC sampled hip-hop tunes right here.
19 quality hip-hop tracks.
All tracks are ranging between 1 and 3 minutes of duration varying on different sampling-techniques and beat-craft styles. The full LP is a magic MPC production from beginning to end with outstandings tracks like: ‘Tears’ that starts with a vocal loop intro and soon drops a heavy bass beat with quality strings. ‘Eyes on You’ brings a more NYC smooth type of hip-hop beat with lucious vocals singing ‘oooh oooh ooooh’. Again dope sampling and beat tricks on this one.
‘Always with you’ uses that pitched up sampling technique that we know from the 90’s hip-hop tunes but still is being used today. This could easily be an intro track since the massive beat is left out and some relaxed percussion is in place.
If you are a fan of that typical MPS style sampling beat drum. ‘Someone new’ is for you. Strings and vocal stabs are working on the impactful beat drum here.
Continuous DJ mix.
Because of the short length of these 19 tunes on Letherette’s BL6 LP, they are perfect to drop them in a continuous DJ mix and that’s exactly what the label has already done for your listening pleasure.
Available as a limited edition cassette.
If you’re quick, you can still get your hands on the limited edition cassette of BL6. So hurry and head over to Wulf Records’ website to order your copy today!
