Hey Dirty Disco fam! It’s your host, Kono Vidovic, and I’m back with another special track talk edition. Today, we’re diving deep into the mind of none other than UK producer Lex Wolf, a name that’s been making serious waves in the underground scene. Lex is all about blending genres and pulling off some sonic alchemy. We’ll talk about his influences, his latest EP with Razor-N-Tape, and the tracks that have shaped his unique sound. Trust me, you’re in for a treat as Lex shares the stories behind his must-listen tracks and gives us an inside scoop on how they inspired his journey as a producer. Let’s get into it!
Kraftwerk v Whitney
This track embodies the spirit of the Lex Wolf project, when you mix together something that on paper shouldn’t work but it creates something so unique and special that always stands out on the dance floor.
Frankie Knuckles – “Baby wants to ride”
This tune is absolutely amazing considering when it was made. I love that raw vocal and it stand up agains anything that made today.
Prince – Erotic City
Prince’s production is always inspired me and when I first heard this it blew my mind. Never fails and an instant party starter
AVH – Funk Phenomenon
I love Armand Van Helden production and he has had so many hits but this was the first tune I heard of his and it just sounded so different. I still drop it today in the right moment as it definitely has that timeless feel.
MBO – Theme
I found this track on a doc Martin classic compilation and I I’ve actually worn it out I’ve had to buy two more copies. It’s also being re released with a different mix on there the original is still the best for me.
Daft Punk – Face To Face
Daft Punk were probably the biggest influence growing up and getting to see them perform at an early age before they blew up is something I will never forget. So I wanted to pick one of the tunes those maybe not that obvious definitely one of our favourites.
Professional Widow – Bootleg
Bootlegs are a big part of my growing up and listening to mashups and people throwing different vibes together. I always wanted to make music that almost sound like the mix. I think if you listen to this this, its where I get that idea from.
Daft Punk – Around the world
I had to put this song in because there Homework album was on repeat for years and definitely shaped my ears and love of house music. Also the video by Michel Gondry was so inspirational I’m remember seeing it on MTV for the first time.
Supermax – Love machine
This is the best remix out of the lot from the one and only master of edits Johnny rock absolutely love playing this out and is the anthem for my love machine parties.
Lex Wolf – Waiting for the night
This was the first original track fully written and produced by myself featuring Liz Cass on the vocals. It was a special moment for me as I fell that I finally created something that has the timeless vibe that I am always search for in music.
Thank you!
That’s a wrap on this incredible journey with Lex Wolf! Huge thanks to Lex for sharing the soundtrack of his creative evolution.
