There is a particular type of house music that could only come from the north. It is music shaped by winter silence, coastal horizons, isolation, and the kind of inner calm that arrives when the world around you is wrapped in snow. MAde, the Northern Norway based producer known for deep and funky textures, channels all of this into his new EP Et Helvetes Rabalder.

Released on the legendary Paper Recordings, the imprint that helped define nu-disco and pushed Scandinavian electronic culture into global consciousness, this collection feels both nostalgic and sharply contemporary. MAde invites us into his world: one part raw dance floor power, one part introspective downtempo storytelling, and one part cosmic Scandinavian synth adventure.

This Track Talk unpacks the EP through MAde’s own lens, exploring the tracks he loves, the sounds that shaped him, and the emotional geography behind Et Helvetes Rabalder.

The MAde Identity: Northern Calm, Deep Grooves, Paper Roots

Arvid Lønne, known as MAde, built his reputation on warm, groove-focused productions that give house music a spacious, soulful dimension. His sound is heavily influenced by the Norwegian winter landscape, a setting that brings clarity to his creative process and a sense of meditative depth to his work.

MAde’s connection to Paper Recordings runs deep. After Wall to Wall Carpet in 2022 and Når Alt Rakner in 2024, his releases earned support from respected selectors like Justin Robertson, Steve Cobby and Bill Brewster. His collaborations with remixers such as Jimpster, Henrik Villard, Third Attempt and Art Bleek further expanded his musical palette.

With Et Helvetes Rabalder, he steps confidently into a new chapter, honoring the classic Paper Recordings 90s aesthetic while infusing it with personal Nordic character.

18 carat affair: watching you dance.

Enters my soul completely.

Drum island: phizzz.

Norway`s best hidden treasure in my opinion. Has it all.

Dj shadow: what does your soul look like.

Just need to play it, to be sure that it is still as good as I think in my mind.

Etienne de crécy: prix choc.

Has followed me around for 25 years. A masterpiece.

Television personalities: A family affair.

Every hipster´s dream. The real shit.

Mind over midi: its gonna be alright.

Ice everywhere, directly in the soul.

Aphex twin: We are the music makers.

Just enjoy the magic, impossible not to like.

Erot: Song for Annie.

Will never be played in the clubs, chill and perfect vibe from the young Norwegian.

Biosphere: Grand-Dome.

Impossible to rule out. You can taste the ice on your teeth.

Machinedrum: come1.

A mindfuck and a masterpiece. I get everybody woken up so they can make it home.

Why Et Helvetes Rabalder Matters Now

This EP speaks to the evolution of Scandinavian house music. It respects heritage without being trapped by it. It shows how a producer can embrace both groove and introspection. It continues Paper Recordings’ long-standing relationship with Norway, from Those Norwegians to the award-winning Northern Disco Lights documentary and countless parties and releases.

Most importantly, it offers listeners a true sense of place. When you hear MAde’s music, you feel the geography, the temperature, the emotional quiet of the north. This is dance music with a human pulse.

My Conclusion

Et Helvetes Rabalder is an EP built on contrasts. It celebrates the floor while honoring the stillness of night. It bridges the early Paper sound with MAde’s modern Norwegian voice. It is a release crafted by someone who understands both the physical and emotional power of electronic music.

For Dirty Disco listeners, this is a project that rewards full attention. Put it on loud or listen alone in headphones. Either way, you will find new details each time. And in true MAde fashion, there is always a moment where calm cuts through the chaos.
