We’re excited to share with you our latest release from underground UK house hero Mark E. His new EP, “Mark E – The Leaning Into The Light,” is a stunning display of deep house magic that will leave you spellbound. This five-track LP has more of an LP feel, taking us on a deep trip across some truly mesmerizing productions. If you’re a fan of deep house and disco warmth, then you don’t want to miss this!
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Mark E, and it brings us great pleasure to hear him debut on the Delusions of Grandeur label. With his impressive past releases on Running Back, Golf Channel, Ghostly/Spectral, and MERC just to name a few. It’s safe to say that he has crafted a sound that is uniquely his own: classic deep house with disco-esque undertones.
The Leaning Into The Light EP has a more LP feel to it, and it’s definitely one for the heads, taking us on a deep journey across five beautiful and massive compositions that will leave you mesmerized. With what comes next, you know you’re in for a genuine deep delight because of the raw and minimal groove of Swimming Through A Diamond , glacial FM electric Piano and naive synth melodies. Like a light shining through a prism, Compact Object’s synth pads and stabs reflect and refract off of each other in an entrancing yet captivating way.
For a blissed-out mood and feeling of being suspended in mid air, Heartaches uses a live electric bassline and jazzy piano chords to great effect, combining muted, otherworldly, and contemplative sounds. The title track follows, taking us deeper still with magnificent chords and a tone palette that evoke Larry Heard and the indescribable sounds of Black Dog, B12, and the golden era of ambient techno and IDM.
We come to the conclusion of this fantastic collection with Mirrored Cube, another example of Mark E‘s mastery of his craft, everything fitting perfectly in its own space and groove rewarding you with its understated beauty.
In addition to writing the music on this EP, Mark E also created all of the original artwork. Get the vinyl here!
