Every once in a while an artist steps into their second album not by reinventing themselves, but by expanding the world they have already built. For Mumbai based musician, DJ, and producer NATE08, that moment arrives with Twenty Seven, a luminous fusion of RnB, deep house, funk tinges, and warm late night grooves. It is a record shaped by lived experience, new creative energy, and a deep love for soulful music that moves both the body and the heart.

NATE08 has long been a central figure in Mumbai’s underground scene. As a session bass player, performer, and selector, he bridges organic musicianship with club culture. His releases on Needwant and his collaborations across India’s evolving soundscape have carved out a unique lane for him. With Twenty Seven, he widens it further.

Nate08 Twenty Seven Track Talk

To celebrate the album, he shares ten tracks that shaped who he is as an artist. These are his selections and his own words, forming a personal soundtrack of inspiration.

About Twenty Seven

His sophomore album Twenty Seven arrives three years after his acclaimed debut Furaha. It expands his palette with soul soaked vocals, warm textures, golden hour house grooves, RnB hybrids, late night moods and the glow of heartfelt production. It ranges from dreamy openers to nostalgic melodies, syrupy rhythms, and irresistibly smooth deep house cuts that showcase both his musicianship and his emotional touch. The album features collaborations with Mary Ann Alexander, Dishaan and Mallika, Dappest, Sahirah, Benni Ola, Jamal Bucanon and Niomi, each adding a distinct color to the record’s mood and story.

The Ten Tracks That Made Me

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Have You Ever Seen The Rain (2010)

One of the first tunes I learnt to play on the bass. Introduced to me by my dad. I was probably around 12 or 13 years old.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Give It Away (2012)

I then went on to have a big Chili Peppers / rock phase in general.

D’angelo – Chicken Grease (2015)

This album changed my life forever. I didn’t know music could feel and sound this way. Pino Palladino has since been one of my biggest inspirations for me as a bass player.

Hiatus Kaiyote – By Fire (2016)

I still remember the first time I heard this tune. I was hanging with a few friends after a gig and this played on the house speakers and my mind was blown. One of my favourite albums of all time.

Four Tet – Lush (2017)

I saw Four Tet for the first time at Magnetic Fields in 2017 and that was my introduction to electronic music. I knew I wanted to make music after that.

J Dilla – So Far To Go (2018)

The king of sampling. I learnt so much about stretching possibilities and breaking rules from listening to his work.

Kaytranada – Lite Spots (2019)

I knew I wanted to make dance music after seeing crowds go off when I played this tune in DJ sets. Such a classic.

MJ Cole – Crazy Love (2021)

My introduction to UKG. Such a tune.

Jitwam – India (2023)

Honoured to have played bass on this banger on Jitwams album alongside a few other tracks on this record. Honoured.

NATE08 – Afterlife feat. Dappest (2025)

One of my favourite tunes from the new album featuring my good friend and incredibly talented artist from Shillong – Dappest.

Why These Tracks Matter

The beauty of this list is how it maps his growth as a musician and as a listener. It begins with family memories and early bass lines, moves through rock explorations, spiritual awakenings in neo soul, eye opening nights with Hiatus Kaiyote, and into the electronic world through Four Tet. From there it flows into sampling mastery, dance floor electricity, UKG influences and personal collaborations that shaped the sound of Twenty Seven.

It reflects a musician who is equal parts listener, bass player, creator and DJ. Someone grounded in groove and feeling.

Conclusion

NATE08’s new album Twenty Seven is not just a project, it is a culmination of the moods and moments that shaped him. These ten tracks are the foundation of his musical DNA, and the album builds on that DNA with warmth, colour and soul. It captures where he has been and points clearly to where he is going.

A heartfelt project and a beautiful addition to the modern deep house and RnB landscape.
