We could expect it, but still we are surprised about this production. Recently, Purple Disco Machine had asked its fans to guess with which disco legend he collaborated on its next track. Many fans had it immediately right, it was Cerrone, one of the essential names from the disco house scene with titles like ‘Supernature’ or ‘Give Me Love’. The Frenchman is not at his first try with a DJ / Producer: we had already seen him collaborating with Mercer, who remixed his track ‘The Impact’.
Purple Disco Machine about this collaboration:
Cerrone is one of the true heroes of disco house, so when I asked his label to clear a sample of one of his classics and he said ‘why don’t we collaborate’, I immediately said yes! I got to spend some time with him and we broke the myth of ‘never meet your idols’ because he’s an amazing person as well as a music legend.
This title is surprising in many ways. Indeed, if we recognize some samples of Purple Disco Machine, it is a completely different sound from usual for his part, and this is a very good thing. Summer Lovin’ has an aesthetic and a structure very close to the disco sounds of the 70’s, like it’s very colorful cover. It is an overall quite successful sound even if it is more suitable for a solitary and pensive listening than for a listening in a club… unless! Alongside this track, Cerrone also announced the release of a new album soon.
