Some releases don’t scream for attention… they pull you in quietly and then refuse to let go. That’s exactly what happened when I first pressed play on The Green Room by Sean Green.

There’s something intriguing here from the start. No overhype, no forced identity, just music that feels lived-in. And honestly, that’s rare these days. You can hear it immediately… this isn’t someone trying to sound like the scene, this is the scene, just presented through a slightly different lens.

For Soul Quest Records, hitting their 20th release with this one feels like a statement. And for me as a selector, this is exactly the type of EP that sits between worlds… deep house, broken beat, late-night introspection and early-morning groove.

Sean Green – The Green Room EP Review

Sean Green’s The Green Room is one of those releases that rewards attention. It’s not about instant drops or obvious hooks, it’s about layering, feeling, and intention.

Opening with “Really Love” ft. Will Heard, you’re immediately grounded in soulful territory. The bassline rolls effortlessly, carrying that classic deep house warmth, while Will Heard delivers a vocal that feels honest and unforced. This is the kind of track that DJs keep in rotation for years… versatile, emotional, and built for both club and headphone moments.

Then comes “Green Alot”, and this is where things get interesting. The shift into broken beat territory feels natural rather than forced. Jazzy chords, syncopated rhythms… it leans into bruk influences but doesn’t get stuck in nostalgia. It’s forward-thinking, with enough groove to keep dancers locked without losing musicality.

“I’d Rather Be With You” adds a layer of grit. There’s a subtle electro breakbeat energy underneath, giving the track more edge. The combination of textured drums, soulful elements and layered vocals creates tension in the best way. It feels slightly darker, slightly more emotional… a standout moment for deeper sets.

Closing with “Hold On”, Sean Green leans fully into a more hypnotic, driving broken beat space. This is late-night material. Less about melody, more about movement and mood. It rounds off the EP with intent, showing range without losing cohesion.

What stands out most across the EP is restraint. Nothing feels overproduced. Every element has space. And that’s exactly why it works.

Whether Sean Green is a new artist or a seasoned producer behind a new alias… this release carries the confidence of someone who knows exactly what they’re doing.

Conclusion

Big respect to Sean Green for delivering a debut that doesn’t follow trends but builds its own lane, and to Soul Quest Records for reaching that 20-release milestone with something this strong.

If you’re into deep, soulful house with broken beat edges and real musical depth, this is one you don’t want to sleep on.

Go support the release, grab it on Bandcamp or vinyl, and more importantly… play it loud, play it late, and let it breathe.

And if this one hits you like it hit me, let me know… I’m always curious what moments connect on your side.
