At Dirty Disco we love Soul Clap and their label! We have been playing their music for many years and always found lots of inspiration from the tracks and artists that came from the ever expanding family. So it’s with huge pleasure that we feature this Soul Clap Records 11th anniversary remix compilation with some great gems on it.
11 years ago, two friends started a record label in their Boston basement because they were receiving an influx of incredible demos from creative artists. Soul Clap Records was born out of a passion for funk, house, disco, and all things groove-based. Eleven years later, that passion is still burning strong! The label has released music from some of the most talented artists around, always guided by the artists themselves. Whether it’s contemporary disco band Midnight Magic reaching out with fresh demos or new artists bringing us something fresh, Soul Clap Records is driven by a feeling of excitement to release great music. Here’s to another eleven years of funk, house, disco, and more!
Over the years the musical family has expanded beyond imagination, from the unique vision at Soul Clap Records and Wolf + Lamb’s Crew Love collective, to illuminating their Boston home with the Dancing on the Charles compilations. They even discovered a bridge between them and their Italian friends through the Italo Funk series. But nothing quite compared to when they all united again in New York City during the Soul Clap Records Revue Tour, a moment of deep connection that will always stay close to their hearts as Eli tells us in his own words. Their family just keeps on growing!
As Soul Clap commences their 11th year of Soul Clap Records, the esteemed list of individuals and their immense talents stands as a reminder that music brings them together. From FSQ, Midnight Magic and Sa’D “The Hourchild” Ali to Navid Izadi, Nick Monaco and Lele Sacchi, each artist is connected as part of their musical family in various forms of collaborations and friendships. Whether it be Chas Bronz, XL Middleton or Michael The Lion, these captivating visages remind us that not only can music bring us closer but also fill our lives with irrefutable vibrancy. With many more like Amy Douglas, Zeynep Erbay or even Funk Rimini waiting in the wings, the need for communal music has never been stronger. To all those mentioned here: you have our undying support and thanks for being part of the Soul Clap Records family.
