Welcome back to a new track talk! I’m thrilled to celebrate a monumental milestone with you today. As a long-time advocate for all things groove, I’m incredibly excited to delve into the 75th release of one of London’s most influential disco labels, The Disco Express. Under the creative vision of Tom Lilly, aka Bustin’ Loose, this label has become synonymous with the finest house and disco sounds of the 21st century. In this special edition, Tom takes us on a journey through ten of his favorite tracks from The Disco Express catalog. Let’s get ready to ride the groove train!

“Hello! Tom here aka Bustin’ Loose, the founder and creator of The Disco Express. We are a record label and event series based in London with residencies in Berlin, New York, Mexico City and Paris… Inspired by the energy of 70’s New York City, The Disco Express endeavours to release the very best in original house and disco for 21st century dance floors. Regarded as one of ‘London’s leading disco labels’, this train ain’t slowing down anytime soon…”

Pete Maxey – Right On (Art of Tones Remix)

In January 2022 we kick started the year with a phenomenal compilation featuring this percussion fuelled dance floor gem. One of our favourite releases on TDE, The Art of Tones Remix of Right On by Pete Maxey spent #3 weeks at the top of the Traxsource Nu-Disco charts. It subsequently appeared on our Best of 2022 red vinyl full of heavyweight remixes by the likes of Hifi Sean, Aroop Roy and DAN:ROS.

Luke Delite & Michelle Weeks – Give Me Your Love (Dave Lee Edit)

Pressed on limited edition golden yellow vinyl, our Best of 2023 vinyl seamlessly blends classic funk and soul elements with cutting edge production. The vibrant spirit of that record lives through this remarkable edit by Dave Lee. Originally written by Parisian artist Luke Delite and Chicago based singer Michelle Weeks, Give Me Your Love is given a modern makeover by the masterful producer, and Z Records owner, Dave Lee. He works his magic on this meticulously made record.

The Wild Violets – Sunrise

Marrying sizzling 70’s guitars with shimmering synths, live drums, funky bass grooves and stunning vocals, The Wild Violets create original yet nostalgic disco. A true modern disco gem, Sunrise boasts a brilliant fusion of funk, soul, disco and sun-kissed vocals by lead singer Brooke Davies. Together with fellow band mates Felipe Franco and Hannah Richardson, The Wild Violets have created a song that’ll forever bring euphoria and joy to dance floors worldwide.

Magnolia – Make Me Dance

A disco-inspired house pumper, Make Me Dance is brimming with energy and soul. Layered with silky 70’s strings, its infectious vocal hook sits upon uplifting house keys and a chunky bouncing bassline. Originally released in 2022, Magnolia’s Make Me Dance has become an anthem of sorts for The Disco Express parties and events hosted around the world; receiving support from the likes of Purple Disco Machine, Fatboy Slim, Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx and Jamie Jones.

Sean Den – Je Suis

Inspired by Floorplan and Adelphi Music Factory, Irish artist Sean Den utilises rare samples, catchy loops and thumping drums to create stunning disco influenced house music. Tailored for hedonistic dance floor moments, Sean Den’s tracks are custom made for peak time business. A number of his supporters include Radio 1’s Sarah Storey, Chloe Callait, Bibi Seck and TSHA who regularly spin Sean’s music. Our favourite, from his two EP’s on The Disco Express, has to be his French Touch pumper Je Suis.

Monsieur Van Pratt – The Power of Music (Art of Tones Remix)

Another outstanding Art of Tones remix.. something we say on quite a regular basis here at TDE. His remix of Mexico’s Monsieur Van Pratt is nothing short of genius. Fixated ‘round a hypnotic guitar groove, jazzy keys are accompanied by a chugging bassline and deep soulful vocals. A very popular tune from TDE catalogue that saw big support in 2022 from the Glitterbox team, Groove Armada, Purple Disco Machine and many more..

Generoco – In The Music (Ft. Karmina Dai)

Accompanied by stellar vocals from New York’s Karmina Dai and passionate saxophone player WayneOnSax, Generoco’s debut EP is an ode to the fusion of modern day house music and the harmonies of indulgent 70s instrumentalism. The icing on the cake is the oh-so groovy remix of In The Music by Hotmood, which re-interprets the track in a brilliant way.

Georges – Love’s Away

Effortlessly combining the timeless elements of disco with the infectious energy of today’s house music, Georges creates a unique sonic experience that is both nostalgic and fresh. In 2023, the Parisian producer, DJ and musician, jumped aboard The Disco Express with his infectiously funky EP, Explorer. Brilliantly showcasing his exceptional talent on Love’s Away, Georges flaunts his skill as a musician and producer, cementing him as one of the leading names in the vibrant French dance music scene.

Luksek – Break For Dancers

Break For Dancers is a pulsating Italo Disco original, perfect for euphoric and high energy nightclub moments. Loaded with ethereal strings, hypnotic synths and a pounding bassline, Luksek’s music is for fans of heavyweight Italo and electronica; similar to that of Tiger & Woods, Hammer and PBR Streetgang. Take it from us, we know how the dance floor erupts when this one’s dropped!

Bustin’ Loose & Magnolia – Paradise Ft. Catalina (Hot Toddy Remix)

Celebrating our 75th Release in Summer 2024, we invited Crazy P’s Hot Toddy to remix Paradise by Bustin’ Loose, Magnolia and Crazy P. The result is a rip-roaring Nu-Disco riser that oscillates and squelches; crescendo-ing with a truly euphoric climax. Breathing new life into The Disco Express catalogue, our 75th Release Special features four heavyweight remixes including the likes of The Reflex, John Morales and Dr Packer. Pressed to 500 copies, on beautiful turquoise blue vinyl, this record is truly a must have for any house and disco lover..

End conclusion.

What an incredible ride through the vibrant world of The Disco Express! A huge thank you to Tom Lilly, aka Bustin’ Loose, for sharing these gems with us. As we groove into the future, be sure to check out their 75th release, a must-have for any true disco lover. Pressed on limited edition turquoise blue vinyl, this release is a masterpiece that encapsulates the spirit of The Disco Express. Don’t miss out, grab your copy and keep the disco spirit alive!
