So, grab your headphones and get ready for a nostalgic ride through the history of disco. Let’s explore the tracks that have fueled Tokyo Joe’s fire and continue to inspire him to create music that moves the soul.

1. Kraftwerk – Radioactivity  (1975)

When I heard Kraftwerk for the first time I sold my soul to electronic music and never looked back.

2. Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band – Cherchez la Femmer (1976)

This track played a lot in the Disco scene of Amsterdam at the time and it was always so much fun to dance and sing to it.

3. Bryan Ferry – Let’s Stick Together (1976)

I love Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry, the music, the style, the fashion, and have all their records in all sorts of releases.

4. Chic – I Want Your Love (1978)

So good to dance to it in the club and when it came out Amsterdam was having a rich disco culture, such joyful moments.

5. Sister Sledge – Thinking Of You (1979)

This is so good to listen and dance to when you are in love, forever, eternal.

6. Loleatta Holloway – Love Sensation (1980)

What a diva, what a great time. Puts you in an endless spin till you drop. Pure ecstasy on the dancefloor.

7. Black Tulip &. Wendell Morrison – A Song Of Love (In Times Of War) B.O.P. Symphonic Remix (2011)

I first released this song in 1991 on TINK! Records when the gulf war began. A manifesto for love and against war. This is a remix by Paul Scott of B.O.P. New Jersey. The video was shot at one of our parties, Jack To The Future.

8. Wookie & Lain – Live on (2018)

I really love this track, and it inspired me to write a song with the same title, to be released soon.

9. South Bay Jams – I Just House (2024)

This is an ode to my love for disco and house music.

10. Tokyo Joe Orchestra with Angel-A – I Release You (2024)

My first record as Tokyo Joe Orchestra and with the great participation of Angel-A from Detroit who wrote the lyrics and sang. I love her soulful voice and timbre.

11. Thyone Girls – More Pumpin” (Ode To Joy Instrumental Mix) 1994

I released this track in 1994 on TINK! Records and it was forgotten until around 2016 it became big in France and everyone wanted the record, I decided to make it available in the digital stores. The vinyl remains rare to find.

A few last words.

A huge thanks to Tokyo Joe Orchestra for sharing his musical insights and passion with us. His journey is a testament to the enduring power of disco and house music, and his latest release, “I Release You,” is a beautiful continuation of this legacy.
