Yannick Roberts is a Dutch producer who first caught our attention when he released a great track on S3A’s superb Sampling As An Art label. Yannick’s take on Dam Swindle, Fouk, and Nachtbraker’s deep, disco-influenced Detroit house sound is warm and punchy, with a large sound that sounds like a natural fit for Freerange. Now the artist drops a very hot new EP: Yannick Roberts – I Can’t Hide From Myself.
Yannick Roberts – I Can’t Hide From Myself:
This four-track EP begins with the title track ‘I Can’t Hide From Myself,’ which rolls along perfectly thanks to an infectious roughed up bassline, crunchy hi hats, and saturated claps.
Yannick Roberts – Glorious Illusions:
Next up is ‘Glorious Illusions,’ a shuffled bumpy groove reminiscent of early Dam Swindle, complete with sampled stabs and neck-snapping beats.
Yannick Roberts – Femme Fatale:
‘Femme Fatale,’ on the other hand, continues the dusty chopped up MPC sampled vibe in fine style, with looped up vocals adding bags of extra energy.
Yannick Roberts – Desalniettemin:
‘Desalniettemin,’ which closes the release, follows a similar path but with a more jazzy approach, cutting up some classic Philly soul and reimagining it as a late-night, heads-down basement jam.

The EP was already featured in Dirty Disco episode 462. Release date is set for the 22nd of July on Freerange Records.
